$$\mathrm{width}=x$$$$\mathrm{length}=x+11$$$$\mathrm{area}=x(x+11)$$$$=x^2+11x$$$$\mathrm{but}\mathrm{area}=60{\mathrm{cm}}^2$$$$\Rightarrow x^2+11x=60$$$$\Rightarrow x^2+11x-60=0$$$$x=-15\mathrm{cm}\mathrm{or}x=4\mathrm{cm}$$$$\Rightarrow \mathrm{width}=4\mathrm{cm}$$
