h+a=(√((r−a)^2 −a^2 )) h^2 =r^2 −2ar+a^2 −2a(√(r(r−2a))) l_(red chord) =2(√(r^2 −h^2 )) =2(√(2ar+2a(√(r(r−2a)))−a^2 ))

(h+a)^2 =(r−a)^2 −a^2 r^2 −h^2 =L^2 L=(√(r^2 −(−a+(√(r^2 −2ar)))^2 ))

(h+a)2=(r−a)2−a2r2−h2=L2L=r2−(−a+r2−2ar)2

the length of red chord is then 2L.
