$${\mathrm{we}}^{\prime }\mathrm{ve}\mathrm{got}2\mathrm{equations}\mathrm{for}2\mathrm{unknowns},\mathrm{just}$$$$\mathrm{solve}\mathrm{the}\mathrm{system}$$$$\left(1\right)x^2+x-a=0$$$$\left(2\right)x^2-3x-a+2=0$$$$\left(1\right)-\left(2\right)$$$$4x-2=0\Rightarrow x=\frac{1}{2}$$$$\Rightarrow a=\frac{3}{4}$$
